A word from Mrs. Claude Pompidou

Acting and Building for others

"Being helpful to no one is being useless"Mrs. Claude POMPIDOU

I easily made this Descartes' sentence my motto when I was taking care of helpless people in the area of rue Mouffetard in Paris.

The individual initiative showing its limits, I set about creating a wider movement which finally led to the creation, in 1970, of a Foundation for disabled children, old people and hospitalized people.

Since then, thousands of volunteers joined me. They offer their time for others in hospitals or in disabled children families' homes. I wanted this voluntary work to be as effective as possible : our volunteers are trained and well looked after. the ethical rules of their intervention are clearly defined.

At the same time, I wanted the creation of specialized establishments for elder people and disabled children. Thus, we have created 15 centers within 30 years.

To meet many families' needs, in particular those concerned by Alzheimer disease or children autism, the Foundation has to operate new projects. Indeed, the lack of specialized establishments in those fields is still too much important.

Let's try more, all together.
More than ever, we shall be helpful to others.
